about...Gary

Gary Moss is an acclaimed award-winning professional photographer, photo editor, artist, instructor, and mentor who founded The Camera Whisperer to educate photographers all over the world on how to make stronger creative photography.

His love for photography has taken him around the world on assignment for his clients. Gary’s photographs have been published in countless magazines worldwide, including covers for Newsweek, Los Angeles Times Magazine, Bon Appetit, Wine Spectator, Outside, and the New York Times Magazine.

 

His work has also appeared in People, National Geographic Traveler, Coastal Living, Time, Cigar Aficionado, Wine Spectator, Sunset, and Rolling Stone, to name a few. His advertising photography includes both regional and national ad campaigns for clients that include Wells Fargo, Wolfgang Puck, GlaxoSmithKline, Nestle USA, ConAgra Foods, Bank of America, J.Paul Getty Trust, Four Seasons, and Universal Studios.

A small snapshot of Gary's celebrity portraits include Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, Shaquille O’Neal, Thomas Keller, Bobby Flay, Bill Gates, Kathy Bates, Buzz Aldrin, Brian Wilson, Will Smith, Matt Groening, Quentin Tarantino, Leonard Cohen, and Alex Trebek, among many others.

 

He is the recipient of an Art Directors Creativity Award, an Art Directors Club Award, and two Art Direction Magazine awards. He has provided photography for several cookbooks and photo exhibitions.

Gary’s photographic work has a cohesive editorial style but easily applies to a wide variety of subjects and disciplines.

He is a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and has been instrumental in editing and coaching graduate students on their portfolios at Brooks Institute of Photography, where he also led workshops and seminars. 

He lives in beautiful Ventura County, California, with his wife and two boys.
